The Directorate has been given the responsibility of managing the stalls for educating the public on consumer related issues allotted to the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department in different GRAMASHREE and PALLISHREE Melas being organized by ORMAS in different parts of the state. The Directorate has already taken part in such Melas at Puri, Koraput, Rourkela, Bolangir, Dhenkanal, Paradeep and Cuttack. This experiment has become a huge success.
Decision to have at least one licenced repairers in each Block to be manned by I.T.I. Certificate holders. 15 applications have already been received.
Initiation of Proposal for:
Setting up of 7 more Working Standard Laboratories.
Strengthening of existing 73 Laboratories.
Development of a permanent training wing in the Directorate.
Setting up of a Museum of Weights and Measures in the premises of the Directorate
Formation of the State Squad to strengthen the enforcement activities.
A two days workshop on “Security arrangements in electronics weighing and measuring instruments” was held at Bhubaneswar in which almost all leading manufacturers of weighing and measuring instruments from the state as well as other states demonstrated the security arrangements in their machines.
Senior technical personnel of L & T Limited, a leading concern of dispensing pumps gave live demo to the enforcement officials of the Directorate on sealing provisions in the dispensing pumps to prevent its fraudulent use after sealing of the same by the sealing authority at Rourkela.
Field functionaries of the Directorate have attended Refresher Course conducted by the Indian Institute of Legal Metrology, Kanke, Ranchi.
Senior Officers of the Directorate were deputed to Fluid Control Research Institute, Palghat, Kerala to get hands-on training on verification of CNG/LPG dispensers sponsored by the Government of India.
Issue of identity cards to all the enforcement officials of the field level.
